The fairy lights run on small button-cell batteries, so there is no cable and no outlet needed. That is what makes it work out on a balcony.
It lies along the top rail of a balcony, staircase banister, mantel or window sill and you tie it in place. If your balcony is long, 2 sets cover about twice the length.
Tie it firmly to the rail so the wind cannot move it. On an open balcony, bring it in during heavy rain or storms to keep it looking fluffy all season.
